Care Instructions for Textiles

Thank you, thank you, thank you for considering and/or purchasing one of my hand dyed textiles. The dyed textiles are made from salvaged natural fibers, the tags are made from old mockups from my clothing designs, and the string tying the two together is the same string that first bound the textiles in preparation for dyeing. All of the textiles were cut, hemmed, scoured, dyed, and finished by me in my studio here in New Orleans.

Below is information on how to care for your textile and what to expect over its lifespan.

Indigo Dyed Textiles [the dark blue ones]

My indigo dyed textiles were dipped a total of 8 times in an indigo vat, and then rinsed and machine washed once. This will significantly lessen color transfer from rubbing and washing, but until it’s received another wash be mindful wearing or washing it with light fabrics.

The textiles can be machine washed with cold water and machine dried on low heat.

Eco Printed Textiles [the ones with leaves on them]

My ecoprinted textiles were steamed with local eucalyptus and oak leaves, rinsed, and dipped in indigo rinse water. Ecoprinting is a less stable and durable dye process, so expect colors to change and lighten over the life of the garment.

The textiles can be machine washed with cold water and machine dried on low heat.
